Kairos and Eros: Living with an Open Heart in a Time of Radical Change with Michael Meade

We live in a period of worldwide crises that involve all levels of nature and culture. At the same time, we are in what the ancients knew as a “kairos moment” that calls for a transformation of life on earth. Kairos is the opportune moment that allows a return to origins and the potentials of life.

In Greek myths Eros represents the divine energy of creation and innate spirit of connection that must be present for any creative effort or relationship to grow. Eros is part of the calling in each person’s life and the expression of the uniqueness of each soul. In times of radical change, all relationships can be reimagined, and when approached with an open heart, both and healing and renewal can occur.

The Embodied Path to Intimacy: Michaela Boehm

Our connection to our body - from the subtle perception to our internal landscape to the free expression of who we are - shapes how we relate to ourselves and our relationships. While we often crave deeper connection the common barriers to embodiment correlate perfectly to the customary disconnects in relationship and our mission in the world. In this interactive talk Michaela will explore the underlying principles as well as embodied practices to counteract those barriers and deepen your connection with yourself and others. She will guide you through simple, yet effective practices of connection and embodiment.

Experiential Breakout: The Boy Crisis by Warren Farrell

Worldwide, the boy crisis is a crisis of: 1) Mental health: Boys’ suicide rate goes from equal to girls to five times girls’ between the ages of nine and 20. 2) Education: Boys will soon be only half as likely as girls to graduate from college. And, 3) Physical health: Boys’ sperm counts have declined by 60%.

The Causes: 1) Dad-deprivation: The boy crisis has ten major contributors. Most important, the boy crisis resides where dads do not reside. 2) The “Purpose Void”: Boys’ traditional purposes—being disposable in war or work (e.g, hazardous jobs)—are diminishing. Boys face a “Purpose Void.”

Following an interactive experience, we'll examine solutions, such as: new senses of purpose, transitions from heroic intelligence to health intelligence, from valuing dad’s dime to valuing dad’s time. We’ll explore solutions for intact families and single moms, and for preventing family dinner nights from becoming “family dinner nightmares."

Speaker: Warren Farrell

We have worked with thousands of partners and professionals around the world to continue developing a new paradigm of relating that is based in uncovering, sharing and celebrating our essential selves and experiencing our partners as evolving works of art. We’ll be sharing the essential principles and practices that can lead to love getting better and better throughout life.

Living in Self Sovereignty: Ashlee Marie Preston

Self-sovereignty is predicated on one’s ability to make decisions and act upon them in an autonomous, self-directed manner. This fundamental human right allows individuals to exercise control over their own lives, free from external forces or influences.

At its core, self-sovereignty is about having the freedom to choose how we live our lives, as long as we aren’t presenting harm to others in the process. This includes the ability to make sound choices about our health, relationships, career, and personal beliefs. It also means the inalienable right to express ourselves and build community in ways that affirm who we are.

This breakout session invites attendees to explore the nuanced characteristics that shape identity, how they intersect with our personal values, and inform our understanding of what it means to be unapologetically whole—leading to a greater sense of personal fulfillment and satisfaction.

Additionally, we will explore strategies for living in self-sovereignty despite discriminatory laws, social norms, and cultural expectations that discourage authentic expression.

Leading with Loving Presence at work: Tami Simon

People in organizations are reporting unprecedented levels of burn-out, stress, and collective trauma. How do we respond as leaders? With loving presence. This type of leadership requires openness and sensitivity combined with clarity and strength to create new ways of working together that are soul-enhancing instead of soul-deadening. To lead with loving presence requires our deepest human capacities– those that are often labelled as “yin” as well as those capacities considered more “yang.” Join Tami Simon, the founder of Sounds True and the Inner MBA training program for an exploration into how to bring your full heart and your soul’s gifts to the inner work of leadership.

Speaker: Tami Simon

Healing the Family Father Wound: Jed Diamond

The family father wound may be the most pervasive, most important, and least recognized problem facing men and their families today. The father wound isn’t restricted to men. Many women also grew up in a home where a father was absent physically or emotionally. When our fathers are distant either through divorce, death, disengagement, or dysfunction, we are left with a deep wound, which we most often fail to recognize. "Kids have a hole in their soul in the shape of their dad, says family therapist Roland Warren. "And if a father is unwilling or unable to fill that role, it can leave a wound that is not easily healed." In this program Jed Diamond, author of My Distant Dad: Healing the Family Father Wound, will help us explore the father wound, recognize ways it has impacted our adult relationship, and ways we can heal.

Radical Self-Love: K. Marshall Green

Who do you love? How do you love? How do you love yourself? The Bible says, and sometimes I do heed the Bible, "love your neighbor as you love yourself." But what if you aren’t loving yourself right? Loving yourself whole? Is that why your love hurts others, because you haven’t worked it out on and in yourself? If you don’t know how to love yourself, then don’t love me like you love you, love me better, but love you better first. In this workshop, we will talk about and practice practical ways we can all begin to love ourselves better and think about why this work is essential to creating a new and better world.

Tonic Masculinity: Initiation into Healthy Manhood: Charles Eisenstein

We hear a lot about "toxic masculinity" these days. Some mean by it that masculinity itself is fundamentally toxic, but many men now see it as a distortion of true masculinity, or a debasement of what masculinity should and can be. In this session we will explore, through discussion and story, what a next masculinity might look like, "tonic" instead of "toxic." While the discussion will be aimed primarily at men, anyone who relates to men or is curious about the expression of their own masculine side is welcome.

Decolonizing Black Masculinity: Healing Historical Trauma and Cultivating Healthy Identities at the Intersection of Race, Gender, and Power: Keith Boykin

This session will provide a progressive and open-minded space for participants to explore and redefine Black masculinity. It acknowledges the ways in which Black men's self-identity and perceptions of masculinity are shaped by historical and cultural factors such as racism, the adultification of Black boys, the dismissal of Black pain, and the influence of society’s toxic masculinity.

New York Times bestselling author Keith Boykin will guide participants to reflect on their own experiences and beliefs about Black masculinity and explore how cultural norms, media representations, and historical events contribute to narrow and limited conceptions of masculinity.

The session will be a safe and inclusive space for all participants, regardless of race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or background. By the end of the discussion, participants will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and others and leave with strategies to decolonize their perceptions of masculinity by promoting healthier, LGBTQ-inclusive, and anti-racist practices.

Speaker: Keith Boykin

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

The Dialogue Process: Moving from Conflict to Connection: Harville Hendrix & Helen LaKelly Hunt

Talking is the most dangerous thing most people do, and listening is the most infrequent. What makes talking dangerous is that one speaker presumes to own the “truth” and claims the authority that annihilates the “truth” of the other. In reaction, the other speaker makes a counter claim to the “truth” by turning away (rejecting), turning toward (confronting) or shutting down engagement entirely (leaving the scene). These everyday interactions, by millions of persons, are constantly creating the polarizations of everyday life that plague us human species.

Dialogue is taking turns talking without judging, listening without criticizing, and connecting around and beyond differences. In dialogical practice, human beings replace their desire to change or control the other with an attempt to understand and affirm the otherness of the other. They allow the world of the other to occupy space in their mental and emotional universe. Dialogical engagement is so profound and impactful that each is inevitably transformed into a space of genuine connecting. In these very deep conversations both speaker and listener are made human.

Speakers: Helen LaKelly Hunt & Harville Hendrix

4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Loving Beyond Gender Binaries: Alex Iantaffi

In this experiential session we will first examine some common myths, stereotypes and assumptions about gender in families relationships. We will consider all types of relationships and families, including friendships, parenting, kinship circles, families of choice and so on. We will take time to observe how rigid gender binaries limit not only the ways in which we love ourselves but also the ways in which we love those around us. Finally, we will explore ways in which moving beyond rigid gender binaries can free us to love more authentically, creatively and joyfully. Come prepared to share your own experiences, questions and bring curiosity and an open heart!

Masculine & Feminine Spirituality: Is there a Difference? Can they be Integrated? With Sally Kempton

In this interactive presentation, we’ll look at how the masculine and feminine view spiritual practice and its goals. Traditionally, masculine practice has been associated with transcendent practices that stress going beyond the body, while feminine practice with more body awareness, breath practice, and the spirituality of daily life. In this presentation we’ll look at this paradigm and see how it applies to our own practice—whether we are men, or women, or a queer non-binary person.
